Mechanical Engineer II – San Jose, CA
Advance Design Consultants, Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to join our team.
Working with us, you will:
- Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate assigned engineering work.
- Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and ADC standards.
- Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Use advanced techniques, theories and practices of related disciplines to complete projects.
- Work on a major project, or several projects of moderate scope, with complex features.
- Attend project meetings with clients. Reflect superior customer service skills.
- Coordinate with all other disciplines in and outside the office.
- Experience with Mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing and Process Piping) Systems Design and shall prepare design layouts and calculations with minimum supervision.
- Perform specific tasks related to the design of Mechanical Systems in several building types.
- Write Mechanical specifications.
- Able to train junior engineers in techniques, theories, calculations and designs.
- Prepare and maintain engineering manuals, including calculations, correspondence, etc.
- Delegate work to Design Engineers, Designers and/or technicians as required.
- Meet project deadlines.
- Maintain fee budgets and scope of work within contract limits and initiates scope change authorizations.
- Assists in preparing proposals.
- Manage projects as needed.
- Responsible for coordination of staffing needs with Department Head in order to maintain schedule through completion of the project.
- Skilled with AutoCAD, MS Office; Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Revit MEP preferred.
- Communicate with design staff and clients in a clear and professional manner.
- Maintain an excellent client relationship reflecting and representing ADC.
- Relate to clients in a mature, thoughtful, professional and pleasant way.
- Develop technical skills of staff while mentoring others in a professional way.
An ideal candidate has:
- Has 6 – 8 years’ experience in Mechanical/Plumbing design and drafting in High-Technology, Biopharmaceutical, Commercial, Mission Critical and Government designs.
- Strong engineering background and understanding of systems and applications in buildings and facilities, including mechanical, electrical, civil, structural and architectural disciplines.
- Mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing and Process Piping) system design consulting business experience.
- Solid understanding of sustainable building design and construction.
- Project management skills (budget control and interdisciplinary coordination).
Job Type: Full-time; Salary.
Hours of work: Standard working hours are 8am to 5pm. Association Attendance may be required.
Employment Terms: Employment-At-Will.
Required Education: 4- Year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) license current in the state of California required.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have supervisory responsibility with junior engineers and CAD department.
