At Advance Design Consultants, we seek to create a brighter future for our team members, our communities and the world we live. With that in mind, ADC is consistently supporting charities and organizations that are making a difference in our local community. This past weekend, ADC staff and executives attended the Soroptimist International of Santa Clara Silicon Valley  (SISCSV) Classy Bag Affaire fundraiser. Soroptimist International of Santa Clara Silicon Valley is a dynamic, caring group of business, professional and women from all walks of life, dedicated to improving the well-being of women and girls. The fundraiser supports their Christmas Store which provides free gifts to underprivileged families during the holiday season.  The Classy Bag Affaire included a charity luncheon, purse auction and raffles that all raised money for the SISCSV Christmas Store. We are grateful for the opportunity for our organization and our employees to give back to the local community and help those who are less fortunate.

Some of the women of ADC joined other members of ASHRAE’s San Jose Chapter and spent their Presidents’ Day encouraging the next generation during GIRLS DAY @ THE TECH. Girls Day provided hands-on activities for girls age 7-14, along with their families, and highlights the achievements of women in STEM fields. In addition to exploring interactive exhibits about robotics, cyber security, wearable tech and bioengineering, guests participated in workshops and maker activities infused with art, music, game design, computer programming and more.

Two of our engineers, Hannah and Valerie, volunteered for the event. They helped teach children about pressure drops by having the kids blow bubbles through a straight straw, a long straw, and a bent straw, and talking about how that applies to air conditioning systems. The activity was a hit with the girls. It was so popular we even had one repeat customer do the activity again!  We look forward to seeing the girls who attended the event continue to thrive in the areas of STEM.

Each winter, Advance Design Consultants supports The Soroptimist Club’s Family Assistance Christmas Store.  Throughout the year, the organization holds events and gathers donations to fund the Christmas store. Then in December, more than 250 children have a brighter Christmas after parents finish their “shopping” spree at the Soroptimist Christmas Store.  SISCSV opens the doors at a local elementary school to over 100 families to do their Christmas “shopping” for their children. In addition to gifts for each of their children, shoppers go home with gift cards from Target and Safeway, small appliances like toasters, comforters, warm clothing, and toiletry kits.

Advance Design Consultants’ Norma Elena Rios is an SISCSV member and gathers other ADC staff to help support this event. We are proud to be a part of the continued efforts of SISCSV to make Christmas brighter for families throughout the Bay Area.

Last weekend, Advance Design Consultants supported The Soroptimist Club’s Family Assistance Christmas Store. For more than 30 years, Soroptomist International of Santa Clara Silicon Valley (SISCSV) has put real meaning in the word ‘giving.’ The service club’s annual free holiday “store” gives families who couldn’t otherwise afford it the gift of a merry Christmas. In addition to gifts for each of their children, shoppers go home with gift cards from Target and Safeway, small appliances like toasters, comforters, warm clothing, and toiletry kits.

We are proud to team up with SISCSV for this event and want to thank SISCSV member, Norma Elena and other ADC staff who helped make this event successful. This year, more than 250 children have a brighter Christmas after parents finish their “shopping” spree at the Soroptimist Christmas Store. ADC looks forward to being a part of SISCSV’s “Classy Bag Affaire” in February that helps raise funds for the Christmas store.
