Detailed Project Scope

ADC was hired to identify and design structural and non-structural seismic deficiencies in Building 650 which is ranked 50 on the High Risk (HR) list. This project also included the renovation for critical/essential patient services, and centralizes Veterans services such as escort, enrollment/eligibility, and travel. The project corrects FCA and ADA deficiencies for stairwell, elevator, and includes energy efficient lighting and power on the first floor. The seismic correction also includes renovation of three floors and patient areas. Area included: Outpatient area, ER, pharmacy services, Woman’s Clinic, Spinal and all exam rooms. Relocation activates included; canteen, cafe, information and welcome center, police, escort, enrollment/eligibility, travel, etc. within the 10,000 square feet addition.

ADC was responsible for producing a complete set of drawings, design narrative/analysis, calculations, sample boards, renderings and specifications in accordance with professional standard practices and VA criteria. ADC managed each A/E discipline provided copies of their respective VA design manuals, standard details, construction standards, and VA national CAD standard application guide to insure all elements were covered and met.

The SOW required ADC to setup meetings with department staff, division heads and facilities to establish requirements for space, separation and path of travel. All utilities connections needed to be located and measured for capacity and integration. This project was fast-tracked and allocated only 3 months of full design, specifications and construction cost estimates.
